This data science project visualizes all ballroom dance competitions in the United States sanctioned by National Dance Council of America. It compares prize money in professional, amateur, and pro-am divisions, as well as top teacher prize money.
Chosen general conclusions:
United States Dance Championship is the competition which pays the most to professional couples, $3,000 to winners and $8,000 collectively to all the couples in top 6.
The most common prize money for 1st place in Professional Open Division is $1,500 (50% of competitions in the circuit pays that amount).
Floridians dance the most. 26 out of 138 (19%) dance competitions sanctioned under National Dance Council of America is organized in Florida. Second place belongs to California with 18 competitions.
The longest dance competition in the United States is Emerald Ball Dancesport Championship in California. It lasts for 7 days.
